Wood Duck
Sandhill Crane
I first saw Sandhill Cranes while visiting my father in Venice, Florida. The birds were a long way off, so the pics didn't turn out too good. But these are magnificent creatures!

I was hiking the Kokomo Wetland Trail at Slate Run Metro Park (Canal Winchester, Ohio, USA) at the end of June, and ran across these two migratory lollygaggers enjoying the shade by the edge of a pond.

These fantastic birds can be up to four feet tall with wingspans over 6 feet wide!

They aren't nearly as skittish as the Great Blue Heron, just eyeballed me as I maneuvered, looking for the closest shots.
I didn't get to witness them in flight, though I imagine it would have been quite a sight!
